Tramp For the Lord
Author: Corrie Ten Boom Price: $5.00 Many Christians know (or should know) that Corrie Ten Boom was a strong Christian woman who was thrown into a Concentration Camp for saving the lives of her Jewish friends. While there, she ministered the word of God and the love of Jesus Christ to her fellow inmates, as well as the Nazi guards. Many lives were saved from Hell because she wasn't afraid to stand up for her beliefs, even though she was being severly persecuted. In "Tramp for the Lord," Corrie Ten Boom herself, tells us what happened AFTER her release from the concentration camp and how she traveled all over the world, preaching the gospel of Christ and telling of her experiences in one of Hitler's worst concentration camps. This is a powerful story of Corrie Ten Boom's life and how miracles do happen. God has awesome plans for all of us, and even through the worst times of our lives, if we follow God's Will, we'll come out the winners in the end. Corrie Ten Boom's life is proof of that. |

She could not read or write, and yet she changed the history of western Europe. She was burned to death as a heretic and later became a saint by the same church that killed her. In this book, the story of Joan of Arc is told in a simplistic and accurate way. This is the story of a great saint. |

Dangerous Minds
Author: LouAnne Johnson Price: $6.00 Here is the story story of one teacher who truly changed the lives of her students. She had what they called the class from Hell - 34 inner city kids who she inherited from a teacher that had been "pushed over the edge." She was told that "those kids are dangerous." But LouAnne had a different idea. Where the school system saw 34 unreachable kids, LouAnne Johnson saw young men and women with intelligence and dreams. When others gave up on them, she broke the rules to give them the best things that a teacher could give: hope and belief in themselves. When statistics showed the chances that they'd never graduate, she fought to beat the odds. This is her story.....and theirs. Its the true story of one teacher who bullied, bluffed, and bribed her students into caring about school. While the R rated movie may be to hard for some people to handle, this book can be read by anyone over the age of about 14 or 15. Its such an inspiring story and it makes you wish that all public school teachers where as comassionate and caring as LouAnne Johnson is. Based on a true story. |

Emma
Author: Jane Austen Price: $6.00 Emma Woodhouse is introduced to us as "handsome, clever, and rich" and according to Jane Austen, a heroin, "which no one but myself would like." The comedy turns on Emma's self appointed role as energetic match maker for her sweet, silly friend Harriet. Emma herself, is confidently immune to the charms of the male sex. Her emotional coming of age is woven into what Ronal Blythe has called "the happiest of love stories, the most fiendishly difficult of detective stories, and a matchless repository of English wit." ”Stand and Deliver”
Price: $12.00 If you love movies that are funny, suspenseful, gripping, compelling, and true, then you’ll love Stand and Deliver! In it, Edward James Olmos gives a wonderful performance as Jaime Escalante, a math teacher at East LA’s Garfield High School. He refuses to write off his inner city students as losers. He cajoles, pushes, wheedles, needles, threatens, and inspires these 18 year olds who were once struggling with fractions and long division to become math whizzes. But are they really ready for the AP calculus exam, and a ticket out of the inner city? What makes this movie so moving is the fact that it’s true! You can’t help but stand up and cheer for the cast of “Stand and Deliver.” Rated PG. |
